The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) held a key coordination meeting with the Angami Public Organization (APO) and its affiliated bodies at APO headquarters, Kohima, focusing on strengthening the Inner Line Regulation (ILR) system in Nagaland.
Meeting Focus: Strengthening ILP System
The meeting aimed to reinforce the enforcement of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system and address concerns regarding the unchecked influx of non-indigenous migrants into the Naga homeland.
APO President Theja-o Vihienuo emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in protecting the identity, security, and demographic balance of the indigenous Naga population.
NSF Presents Comprehensive ILR Strategy
During the meeting:

K. Andrew Yhome, NSF’s ILR Committee member, presented a detailed overview of the ILR campaign, highlighting its objectives and goals.

NSF President Mteisuding delivered the keynote address, outlining key challenges and systemic gaps that affect effective ILP implementation in Nagaland.

He stressed that strengthening ILR is not just an administrative task but a historical and moral obligation to protect the rights, land, and future of Naga people.
Recommendations for Effective ILR Enforcement
ILRC Chairman NSN Lotha detailed recommendations, including:

Setting up ILP checkpoints at Dimapur Airport and Dimapur Railway Station, key entry points for non-indigenous individuals.

Enforcing stricter monitoring and robust ILR mechanisms.

Seeking active cooperation from APO and its affiliated organizations.
APO and Community Support
APO President Vihienuo confirmed that the organization has formed a core ILP committee to address ILR concerns systematically.
He highlighted the need for youth empowerment and sustainable livelihood programs to reduce dependency on migrant labor.
Angami Women Organization (AWO) President Neithono R. Sothu expressed full support for the initiative, stressing Naga women’s role in community vigilance and social responsibility.
Angami Students’ Union (ASU) President Diezevisie Nakhro praised NSF’s proactive approach and pledged full support to preserve the identity, culture, and security of indigenous communities.

The coordination meeting concluded with all participating organizations committing to work together to enhance ILR enforcement in Nagaland.
