In a major development in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, a landlord from Madhya Pradesh has been arrested by Gwalior police for allegedly helping the accused hide after the crime. The arrest was made following a request from the Meghalaya Special Investigation Team (SIT).

Landlord Helped Accused Hide After Fleeing Shillong

According to East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem, the arrested man, Lokendra Singh Tomar, owns the flat in Dewas Naka, where Sonam, one of the key suspects, took shelter after fleeing Shillong. Investigators say Tomar played a role in concealing evidence linked to the murder.

Tomar had reportedly left Madhya Pradesh for Uttarakhand on June 16 and returned to Gwalior on June 22. A team from the SIT has already traveled from Indore to Gwalior to take him into custody. He will be presented before a Gwalior court for transit remand and brought to Shillong for further questioning.

Two More Arrests in the Murder Probe

Two more suspects, Silome James, a property dealer, and Balla Ahirwar, a security guard, were arrested earlier on Saturday. All three suspects are expected to be brought to Shillong by Wednesday, police confirmed.

Key Charges: Evidence Tampering and Aiding Accused

Police officials have stated that Tomar is wanted for allegedly destroying and hiding critical evidence in the murder case. His involvement is considered significant as he provided shelter to the accused, potentially delaying justice.

Murder Case Background

The murder of Raja Raghuvanshi has shocked the region and triggered an intense investigation. Meghalaya police are working closely with law enforcement in other states to ensure all those involved are held accountable.
