Permit Cancellation Threat
Mizoram’s Home Minister, K. Sapdanga, has issued a stern warning to the Mizoram Commercial Vehicle Union (MCVU), urging them to call off their ongoing strike. He reminded the union that permits issued by the State Transport Authority (STA) could be revoked if they fail to comply with the STA’s order. The government sees no reason to continue validating these permits if the union does not honor its commitment.
Alternative Arrangements for Public Transport
During a meeting with transport and police officials, Sapdanga announced that, even if the MCVU persists with the strike, alternative arrangements will be made to ensure public transport remains operational. Police officers in every district will be deployed, and battalion personnel will assist where necessary. Additionally, Mizoram State Transport buses will continue to serve the public in place of city buses.
Support for Non-Participating Transport Operators
To further mitigate the impact of the strike, public transport operators who do not support the strike will receive security, and two- and four-wheeler taxis will be allowed to operate in Aizawl without adhering to the usual odd-even number restrictions.
Growing Number of Associations Rejecting the Strike
Meanwhile, more transport associations have chosen not to participate in the strike. These include:

- Mizoram Truck Driver Association
- Mizoram Oil Tanker Driver Association
- Mizoram Indane Driver Welfare
- All Mizoram Commercial Tripper Association (Owners & Drivers)
- Champhai District Auto Rickshaw Owners Association
The number of associations refusing to support the strike continues to grow, further isolating the MCVU.
