Mizoram reported a peaceful Christmas celebration with no major law and order issues this year. According to the Inspector General of Police, Lalbiakthanga Khiangte, crime rates were notably low compared to previous years, despite some minor incidents such as burglary and the illegal sale of firecrackers. The community’s cooperation and adherence to government regulations were commended, contributing to the calm festivities.
From December 24 to December 29, around 28 criminal cases were filed in the Aizawl region, with burglary accounting for 22 of these cases. Two individuals were arrested for selling banned firecrackers. Additionally, 47 people were detained for traffic violations during the celebrations, and three cases of unnatural deaths were reported.
As the state prepares for the New Year celebrations, Khiangte assured that robust security measures are in place to ensure continued peace and safety throughout the upcoming festivities.
