Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced a padayatra (foot march) starting May 25 across his Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh. The goal is to spread awareness about key Central Government welfare schemes and ensure eligible citizens receive the benefits.

A Step Towards Self-Reliant India

This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a self-reliant and developed India. According to a statement from Chouhan’s office, the Union Minister will walk 20–25 km per day, visiting every area of his constituency.

Weekly Yatra Across Villages

The yatra will take place two to three days a week. During each visit, Chouhan will stay overnight in villages, talk to locals, and assess the impact of government welfare schemes on the ground. The effort will soon expand to other parliamentary constituencies across the country.

Focus Areas of the Padayatra

During the march, Chouhan will promote and evaluate key schemes, including:

  • Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
  • PM Kisan Samman Nidhi
  • Women Empowerment Programs
  • Rural Roads Development
  • Health and Education Initiatives
  • Clean India (Swachh Bharat)
  • Digital India
  • Self-Employment and Skill Training Programs

Participation from Government and Local Bodies

Officials from the Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development, along with panchayat members, self-help groups, women’s organizations, and farmer groups, will actively participate in the initiative.

Ground-Level Impact

This grassroots campaign is designed to bring the government’s efforts in rural development, employment generation, agricultural reform, and women’s empowerment directly to the people.

Chouhan Responds to Farmers’ Concerns

This comes after Shivraj Singh Chouhan responded to a viral video of a struggling farmer in Maharashtra, reinforcing the government’s commitment to supporting agriculture and farmers during natural hardships.

A Model for Nationwide Development

After completing the Vidisha campaign, Chouhan aims to organize similar padayatras in other constituencies, contributing to a broader national development model.
